Welcome to Shortgrass Library System

2019 Shorty Awards

Has your library run a fantastic program this year? Held an event that had your whole community talking? Is there a staff member or volunteer in your library who consistently knocks it out of the park with their customer service skills? We want to hear about it!

In order to recognise excellence in public library services around our region, Shortgrass is again holding the Shortgrass (Shorty) Awards, which will be given to member libraries and staff who have demonstrated outstanding effort, creativity and dedication to their patrons and communities.

Awards are available in the following categories:

  • Innovation: Best NEW library program: for a program that was successfully held for the first time in 2019
  • Community Outreach
  • Advocacy
  • Innovative use of Technology
  • Public Relations
  • Partnerships

The 2nd Annual Shorty Awards will be given out at the annual Christmas Dinner & Social on December 11th, 2019 and  will each come with a plaque and a monetary donation(amount determined by number of winners) to the winning library, in the hopes that the funds will be used to continue to provide even more fantastic library services in your community.

Nominations are currently open until noon on Tuesday, October 15th and can be submitted by emailing [email protected] or by filling in the online form below.

The more detailed your submission, the better, so please include as much of the following information as possible:

  • Name of program, event, or staff person being nominated
  • Number of attendees (if applicable)
  • Date of program/event
  • Program/event details: what made this program such a success? (If nominating an individual, tell us what makes them so fantastic!)
  • Photos from your program or event

Libraries are able to submit multiple programs or personnel for consideration. Submissions must be received by noon on Tuesday, October 15th, 2019.

We look forward to hearing about all the amazing work that has been happening at your libraries this year!
